Ground Breaking

October 23, 2018 - Oh what a day!

We literally broke ground on the construction of JoeAnna’s House, a place that has been planned, envisioned and dreamed about for years. An idea, a place, a home that the community has really rallied around and so graciously supported. JoeAnna's House is now officially under construction!

This home-away-from-home will offer families a safe haven while attending to loved ones admitted to KGH. JoeAnna's House is being built from the generosity of people in Kelowna and across the Interior Health region and will fill an important role in our community.

As Andrew Hughes, KGH Health Services Administrator, noted, today alone there are 5 babies and their parents in the KGH NICU, all from outside Kelowna. In total, we have 100 patients admitted to the hospital as of this morning that are from out of town.

“We are deeply grateful for the support of the Huber family for providing the lead gift; to Interior Health for the gift of this land; to the build committee who has been instrumental in getting us to this point; and of course, to all of you, the donors who are making this extraordinary gift to the people of the southern interior region possible,” said Doug Rankmore, CEO of the KGH Foundation.

Over 150 campaign donors, community supporters and hospital staff joined together on the future site of JoeAnna’s House for this very momentous and exciting occasion. Once open, the 20-bedroom JoeAnna’s House will be funded and operated by the KGH Foundation.
